چکیده

The most common solution for implementing access control into a dynamic group is to use a group key unknown to all but the users in the group. The group key (i.e., session key) is updated for every session throughout the lifetime of the group with the procedure of group key distribution. In this paper, we propose a group key distribution scheme with self-healing property that enables users in a dynamic group to establish session keys over an unreliable network with constrained bandwidth resources. To achieve this, our scheme also has the limited group membership property that there exists an upper bound on the number of users in the group. Through modeling and analysis, we show that our scheme has a better tradeoff between storage and communication overhead as compared to previous work. In addition, we propose a variant of the scheme which enables key recovery from a single broadcast message.

Exponential Arithmetic Based Self-Healing Group Key Distribution Scheme with Backward Secrecy under the Resource-Constrained Wireless Networks

In resource-constrained wireless networks, resources such as storage space and communication bandwidth are limited. To guarantee secure communication in resource-constrained wireless networks, group keys should be distributed to users. The self-healing group key distribution (SGKD) scheme is a promising cryptographic tool, which can be used to distribute and update the group key for the secure ...

On the Security of a Self-Healing Group Key Distribution Scheme

Recently, in Journal of Security and Communication Networks (5(12):1363-1374, DOI: 10.1002/ sec.429), Wang et al. proposed a group key distribution scheme with self-healing property for wireless networks in which resource is constrained. They claimed that their key distribution scheme satisfies forward security, backward security and can resist collusion attack. Unfortunately, we found some sec...

Long-lived Self-healing Group Key Distribution Scheme in Wireless Sensor Networks

The self-healing group key distribution with revocation can deal with the session key distribution problem for secure group communication over an unreliable wireless network, with the capability of resistance to the packet loss and the collusion attack. However, since previous self-healing group key distribution schemes are restricted to m sessions, they will be reset frequently, which leads to...

Improved One-Way Hash Chain and Revocation Polynomial-Based Self-Healing Group Key Distribution Schemes in Resource-Constrained Wireless Networks

Self-healing group key distribution (SGKD) aims to deal with the key distribution problem over an unreliable wireless network. In this paper, we investigate the SGKD issue in resource-constrained wireless networks. We propose two improved SGKD schemes using the one-way hash chain (OHC) and the revocation polynomial (RP), the OHC&RP-SGKD schemes. In the proposed OHC&RP-SGKD schemes, by i...

Revocation and Self Healing of keys in Hierarchical Wireless Sensor Network

In this paper we have discussed a key distribution scheme with revocation and self healing mechanism. Self healing key distribution scheme enables a group of users to establish a group of keys over an unreliable network. In our scheme cluster header distributes session keys to the group nodes for communication. The concept of key distribution scheme with revocation was first mooted by Staddon, ...
